Summer Greetings!
Sorry to have left you so long without news, but I have a very good excuse, in so far as you will be able to see the fruits of my efforts very soon.
During the last three months I have had the wonderful privilege to work with the renowned and respected filmmaker Philip King. He invited myself and Neil Martin to make a documentary for his Arts series 'The Living Bridge'.
Neil is an extraordinary musician from Belfast, where he lives and works as a composer and cellist, and also uilleann piper. The programme takes us on a journey through chosen pieces of music that allow us to discuss why we, as classically trained musicians, feel drawn to traditional music. We try to articulate through music how we cross the bridge between the two genres, and ultimately we both reach the same conclusion – namely that good music is good music, regardless of genre, and that all boundaries are blurred in the pursuit of this musical fulfilment.
I'm very excited to tell you that it will be broadcast on RTE 1 on July 31st. as soon as I have the final details regarding web links etc. I will post them here.
My other news is hat I'm currently working on material for a new album that I will record in August. It will be an album for Winter and Christmas including some known songs and some newly written ones. I'm really loving my time with this beautiful repertoire and thankfully 35 days straight of grey skies and rain in Ireland has been useful to conjure up the season!
Hopefully the sun will shine again soon.
love

REVIEW of concert given saturday June 17th at Íontas Theatre, Castleblayney, Ireland
"Hearing and seeing Eimear Quinn at Íontas on Saturday night Last we were struck by the wonderful thing that love of music is, that love of art is.
Here was an artist who had won the Eurovision as a singer for Ireland with 'The Voice'. With a voice and looks like hers she could have gone on to 'make it big' but instead she chose to follow her musical soul into all the exciting musical alley-ways that presented themselves to her.
Now, like Jason, she brings back the golden fleece of her journeys through legends, countries, languages, traditions, musical genres and collaborations and presents it to us in 'Gatherings' her new album.
The contents of that album are featured prominently in her live show and that is where we see the physical expression of that love we spoke about. She looses herself in her music, skips, dances, sways and gives herself over to it. She is a medium of great things whether playing the piano or singing - songs in Latin, Spanish, Irish, English, French, and Breton. Like Clannad, like Enya, she is still Eimear Quinn and there's no other.
If you've seen her perform on television forget it; go to see her and hear her live wherever you can.
With great accompaniment from Conor Byrne, Lloyd Byrne, Martin Quinn and Aoife Miskelly this is a musical experience worth repeating again and again."

THROUGH THE LENS OF A TEAR re-released on eimearquinn.com
We are delighted to announce that THROUGH THE LENS OF A TEAR is now re-released on eimearquinn.com
This was Eimear's first full length solo album and although it has been available for download on eimearquinn.com, it was unavailable to buy as a CD for sometime now.
Until today!
Released by Decca Records International in 2001, this is a contemporary song cycle inspired by the legendary love story of Tristan and Iseult.
The Epic musical journey is composed by Eimear and Pól Brennan and features musicians such as David Rhodes, John Gilblin, Leo Pearson, Caroline Dale, Laoise Kelly, Conor Byrne and Lloyd Byrne.
One reviewer had this to say.....
"Eimear Quinn's crystalline vocals and lush arrangements bind the project into a cohesive masterwork.
One of the album's standouts is "Hunted," an upbeat progressive Celtic masterpiece; tempo variations between the ballad oriented verses and the rocking choruses are dramatic. "Hunted" is held together by Eimear's tremendous and evocatively sung lead and dense orchestral arrangements."

THROUGH THE LENS OF A TEAR WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM JUNE 21ST.
